An introduction to basic concepts of pathophysiology and pharmacology. Students examine the phenomena that produce alternations in human physiologic function and the resulting human response. In addition to the general pharmacology of drug actions on the autonomic, cardiovascular and central nervous systems. Upon completion of the course, students will understand basic pathophysiological changes, including how pathological processes are manifested, progress in the body and the common disease and medication associated with those diagnoses. Students must have an understanding of normal functions of the body systems in order to understand the abnormal functions and manifestations of the disease and drug processes therefore, Anatomy and Physiology is a prerequisite for this class.
