Preparing For A Career And A Job

1. Day One

The Job Placement office operates on the premise that day one at Taylor Business Institute is the first day of the rest of your life. We begin at orientation to inform the new student that our office exists to assist them in finding employment in a solid career field. It is emphasized that we are assisting, not guaranteeing employment upon graduation.

2. Employment Preparation

On the last quarter of study we have instituted a results oriented self-directed job search curriculum in the employment preparation and employment seminar classes. We also co-sponsor a workshop for Career Development Professionals focused on result-oriented, self directed job search techniques. We are helping the student develop skills that will last a lifetime.

3. Tracking the Graduate

It is important that we know the current status of each graduate. We keep meticulous records of each employer we send resumes to, we critique each interview, analyze the resume for effectiveness, and invite graduates who are unemployed back for regularly scheduled seminars. We continue to work with a graduate until the individual is hired. Then we follow-up with a routine questionnaire to all employers after the grad has been employed for 90 days.
