In certain circumstances, an applicant who possesses a high school diploma or has a GED, but does not meet the requirements as stated in the terms for programs listed above, may be admitted following a personal interview with the Dean of Academic Affairs. Documentation to support the admitting rationale must also be provided.
In certain circumstances, in an effort to have more information or additional profiles relative to an applicant’s ability to pursue a specific course of study, the Dean of Academic Affairs may schedule additional tests to examine interest and/or ability.
Taylor Business Institute does not admit students under the “Ability to Benefit” provision. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or a GED as a condition for admission .
All applicants for any of the programs listed above and prior to being admitted, must be approved by the Admissions Committee Chairperson who may require a personal interview.
New students who wish to transfer credit from other institutions must provide to the Dean of Administration/Registrar an official transcript showing a “C” or better in all courses for which transfer credit is requested. For full consideration, transfer requests, including official transcripts from all institutions previously attended must be received by the Dean prior to the first day of scheduled classes for the student’s first term of enrollment. Students will need to have official transcripts mailed to the Registrar/Director of Records well in advance of this deadline. Hand carried or “Issued to Student” transcripts cannot be accepted.
Courses accepted in transfer must be similar in scope and credit to a course within the student’s prescribed program of study at Taylor Business Institute. Although acceptance of transfer credit is at the sole discretion of the Registrar/Director of Records, Taylor will generally accept in transfer general education course credits that have been earned in Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) approved courses with a name and course description comparable to one offered within the student’s program at Taylor . General education courses earned from non IAI-participating institutions will be evaluated individually to determine their similarity to a course within the student’s prescribed program of study.
Except in extraordinary circumstances, the school will not award more than two quarters of outside credit toward the major core of a diploma or degree program.
Tuition is prorated for students who enroll in less than a full program. Students are advised to consult with the Director of Financial Aid to review the effect of transfer credits on financial aid eligibility.
Credits earned at Taylor Business Institute are not universally transferable. Certain credits may be transferred to other institutions; however, the Registrar at each institution should be contacted by the student to determine what credits may be acceptable. Taylor Business Institute has articulation agreements with several colleges/ universities in the downtown area.
